The Scottish Women’s Development Forum (SWDF) was established in 2003 as a working group of the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland. Upon the creation of Police Scotland the SWDF became a Diversity Staff Association who advise Police Scotland, Scottish Police Authority and Scottish Government about gender equality within the Scottish police service.

The SWDF are guided in their activities by the Executive Committee, who provide strategic direction of the SWDF and a number of sub-groups who report into that Committee. The SWDF now focus on three themes, which include individual sub-groups

1)Health and Wellbeing – Includes Pregnancy and Maternity, and short life working group on Menopause

2) Organisation Culture – Includes following up on the Opinion Survey,  Occupational Segregation and Flexible Working

3) Governance – Includes Policy Review and Communication, Marketing and Events
